THE CHALLENGE
50%
EMPLOYED RESIDENTS IN USA WORKING LOW WAGE JOBS
Individuals working in low-wage jobs make insufficient income to meet minimum standards given the local cost of living and transitioning to higher paying jobs has become increasingly unclear and unattainable for indviduals leaving many members of our communities stuck.

OUR PURPOSE
We believe in a future where everyone can thrive, not just survive and recognize that a good paying job is a critical piece to making that belief a reality.
We created the rt workshop to empower people in low income jobs and help them develop the skills and relationships to get better jobs .
Our Programs
OUR APPROACH
Designed to meet people where they are - in their personal journey, work life, and community - the rt Workshop is a cohort based 10-week workshop series that harnesses the power of modelling and experiential learning as a pedagogical behaviour change technique.
Participants will rotate through three types of workshops:
-
REFLECT: Empowering individuals to reflect upon their own lived experiences and strengths.
-
EXPLORE: Helping participants explore the career opportunities around them through guest speakers from the field.
-
VISUALIZE: Enabling participants to visualize and practice bringing their lived experiences to new careers.
We believe if someone joins a rt workshop cohort, made up of individuals who are also stuck in low-income jobs, and attends the weekly experiential workshops, then they will leave with a clear view of the path to a better job, have the self-confidence and agency to attain that job, and the professional community to support them along the way.

The rt Workshop Team
Rodrigo, Tanya and Tramaine met in A132 while at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and they immediately connected over their interest in helping communities thrive through workforce development. After many hours on zoom (due to COVID-19), they realized the root of their shared interest was aligned as well - all three of them had 'beat the odds' of their upbringing and were living the American Dream. They created the rt Workshop to help more people access this dream of thriving.
